Japonya Mimarlık Enstitüsü ve her bir ülkenin ilgili kurumu ile işbirliği neticesinde 2003 yılından itibaren 7 yıldır düzenlenmekte olan "Doğu ve Orta Asya Tarihi Şehirler Konferansı"nın bir ayağı, Asya ve Avrupa'nın özerk araştırma kurumlarının katkısıyla "Avrasya Koridoru"nda bir şehir olması özelliğinden dolayı, tarihi ve çevresel unsurları korumak amacıyla Mayıs 2010'da İstanbul'da düzenlenecektir. 2 gün sürecek bu konferansta, Japonya ve Türkiye'nin işbirliği ekseninde Pan-Türk Bloğu, Çin Bloğu, Rusça Konuşan Ülkeler Bloğu gibi medeniyetleri kucaklamış bölgelerde ortaya çıkan Türkiye, Rusya, Çin, Vietnam gibi ekonomisi büyüyen ülkelere bağlı olarak şekillenen "Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma"nın çerçevesi çizilerek, yeni bir çevre ve kültür büyüme modeli önerilecektir. Konferansa, İstanbul'un, kentsel planlama, çevre tasarım, mimarlık, sosyoloji ve tarih uzmanlarının yanı sıra, şehrin yönetim kadrosundan da uzmanlar katılacaklardır. Ayrıca, sergilerin ve öğrenci atölye çalışmalarının düzenlenmesi planlanmaktadır.

"The Historic Cities in Eastern and Central Asia Conference" has been organized 7 times since 2003 with the cooperation of the Architectural Institute of Japan and the relevant institutions in each country. Aiming to preserve the historical and environmental element, a leg of the conference will be held in Istanbul, as it is a city located in the "Euro-Asia Corridor", with the contribution of several autonomous research institutions in Asia and Europe. In the two-day conference, a new environmental and cultural development model will be proposed on the axis of the cooperation between Japan and Turkey after drawing the framework of "Sustainable Development" that was molded in line with the growing economies such as Turkey, Russia, China and Vietnam that are located in the Pan-Turkish Block, Chinese Block, Russian Speaking Countries Block, which have been the cradle of civilization. The conference will host experts of urban planning, environmental design, architecture, sociology, and history along with experts with administrative duties in Istanbul. Some exhibitions and student workshops are planned to accompany the conference.
